Description
1 coin per bid. You are buying 1 coin randomly picked from the lot pictured. With careful cleaning they will reveal stunning detail. I have included pictures of some coins I have cleaned myself. Great gift or hobby idea! Each atleast 1600 years old.
They are generally ~16-25mm in diameter with some larger coins included.
The bronze are likely constantinian era coins with great detail hidden under a layer of dirt. The coins are genuine and bought in bulk from European auction houses or people who find them metal detecting.
During the height of the empire Rome's mints were producing 1M coins per day. Later bronze issues are commonly found throughout Europe. During the 3rd and 4th century AD, inflation was one of the key factors towards the decline and fall of the Empire. Most of these coins, among other late Roman Bronze coins can be attributed to this period. Emperors such as Diocletian enacted price controls only making things worse driving consumers to the black market. Inflation and poor monetary policy crippled the Roman economy leading to the inability to pay its armies. This is why these coins sell for such reasonable prices today!
I also sell speciality tools for cleaning - which I used to clean the coins pictured.
