Philip the Arab, also known as Marcus Julius Philippus or Philip I, was a Roman emperor who ruled from 244 to 249 AD. He was born in the city of Shahba, which is located in present-day Syria. The soldiers acclaimed Philip as the new emperor, and he accepted the title.
